Parents and guardians are not just stakeholders, they are vital partners in the educational journey of their children. That’s why transparency, communication, and trust between schools and families must remain foundational to how we operate as a district.
Families should continue to have full access to curriculum materials and advance notice of sensitive topics, such as depression, anxiety, or suicide. Clear opt-out policies must remain in place and be communicated openly and respectfully. These policies help ensure families can make informed decisions in alignment with their values, while still supporting a respectful, inclusive classroom environment.
Just as we work together to support academic achievement, we must also partner to support students’ emotional and psychological well-being.
Striking the right balance is not always easy—but it is necessary. Our schools must remain safe, supportive spaces for every student, while honoring the primary role families play in shaping their children’s values and understanding of the world.
As candidates, we are committed to policies that strengthen family-school partnerships, uphold transparency, and foster respectful collaboration—because when we work together, our students are stronger for it.
